Meet the Artist
Sarah Robbins | @sarah_robbins
Hi there! I’m an illustrator, painter and designer living and working in Seattle, WA. My studio is filled with old LIFE Magazines, maps, vintage packaging, and faded thrift store paintings (you know the ones), and a lot of those themes are known to bleed into my work.
I’m a Jill-of-all-trades when it comes to art, and I’m not tied to any particular style or medium. I use imagery, patterns, typography and color to create work, and I strive to make something unique and custom for every project.
I pride myself on making classic pieces that can work on multiple levels. I straddle the line between specificity and ambiguity, often allowing room for people to interject their own thoughts and experiences into the work. I believe it’s important to create pieces that can amplify the voices and stories of others, not just my own.
The Art Piece
Mindful Currents
Anchored at the entrance to the resident garage, this mural provides a moment of zen amid the everyday hustle. Inspired by the Blue Mind Theory, which emphasizes water’s calming influence on the brain, the composition flows with layered textures that mimic rippling water and torn strips of paper. Its design balances precision with an organic feel, evoking the tactile warmth of analog techniques. The palette—a blend of soft blues, sea greens, and sandy beige—suggests the tranquil meeting of ocean and shore, offering a subtle yet grounding transition for residents returning home. This mural invites you to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the rhythms of water and the serenity it inspires.
